Road trip planner with stops
Add a start, an end and as many stops as you like. The planner measures every leg on real roads, can put the middle stops in the shortest order, and suggests where to break the drive into days.

Why stop order matters
Add stops in the order they occur to you and the route zig-zags. The "Shortest stop order" button keeps your start and end fixed and reorders everything in between, using OSRM's trip solver on real roads. It then tells you how many miles it saved. On a trip with six or more stops scattered across a region, the saving is often a full day of driving.
Then split the trip into days. Long legs are where fatigue and bad decisions happen. Drag the hours-per-day slider and watch where the overnight stops fall. If one leg is far longer than the rest, search for a town halfway and add it.
How the numbers are calculated
Places come from OpenStreetMap's Nominatim search and routes from the public OSRM demo server, both run by volunteers. To respect their usage policies, searches only run when you press Search (at most one a second) and routes only when you press a button. Drive times assume free-flowing traffic and legal speeds, with no fuel, food or traffic delays. Check live conditions with the state 511 service before you go.
Planner FAQ
Is this road trip planner free?
Yes. No account and no sign-up. Your current route and any trips you save are stored only in your browser’s local storage, and you can clear them at any time.
How many stops can I add?
Up to about 25 works well. The public routing server handles a moderate number of waypoints per request. Very long lists are best split into two trips.
Does it avoid tolls or ferries?
No. The public OSRM server returns the fastest driving route and doesn’t offer toll or ferry avoidance. Check the route on the map and add a stop to steer it if needed.
Can I calculate driving distance between two cities?
Yes. Add two places and press Get route to see the driving distance and time. It works as a simple driving distance calculator.
