AI road trip planner

Tell it where you're starting, how many days you have and what you love. It drafts a day-by-day itinerary with overnight stops sized to your driving pace. Then check the legs in the route planner.

Your itinerary will appear here. Nothing is sent until you press the button.

AI-generated drafts can get distances, opening seasons or details wrong. Check each leg in the planner, and check road status and park rules with official sources (state 511, nps.gov) before you go.

How to get a better AI itinerary

Give it constraints, not just a destination. "Five days from Phoenix in March, no more than five hours' driving a day, two kids who like short hikes" gets a plan you can use. "Arizona road trip" gets a brochure. Set the driving-per-day slider honestly: it's the single biggest factor in whether a road trip feels fun or feels like a commute.

Use the draft as a first sketch. Load the overnight towns into the route planner to get measured miles and hours, and compare it with our hand-built itineraries such as the Southwest Grand Circle or the Pacific Coast Highway.

AI planner FAQ

Is the AI road trip planner free?

Yes, with a fair-use limit of a few plans every ten minutes per visitor. No account needed.

What happens to what I type?

Your trip details are sent to an AI model via Vercel AI Gateway only to produce the itinerary. We don’t store them or tie them to you. Don’t include personal information.

Can I trust the distances?

Treat them as estimates. The AI doesn’t look up live maps, so run the stops through the route planner for measured distances.
